Today is Tiny's Birthday!
Happy birthday to my partner in crime - it's a lot harder to cause trouble when we live so far apart! I miss you - come see me!
Today was also the last day of Mom's visit - boo!
We had our first showing of the house - yay!
We got to relax for most of the morning and then did a quick clean/vacuum.
All four of us (Mom, Tom, Buddy and me) piled into my car and went for a walk around Rockefeller Preserve while strangers wandered around our house.
The guys are so cute.
Luckily the weather was much better today, so we had a nice walk.
Buddy was a little tired when we got home.
Then we had to take Mom to the airport. Did I mention - boo!
I have been pretty lazy since my race/while my mom was here. It was really nice. Tomorrow I'm back to my usual Saturday morning group run.
Since I don't have another race coming up and am training plan free (a place I don't really like to be), I'm going to work on my own plan. I may even work some cross-training in there somewhere. We'll see...

Nerves and cleaning house
It's weird not going to work. Don't get me wrong, I love not waking up at 5:30 every morning and working 10+ hours, but it still feels weird.
It gives me more time to play with filters on my phone, which is obviously really important.
Tom and I (mostly Tom) cleaned pretty much the whole house today. It really freaked Buddy out. He was especially not a fan of the vacuum.
There were many variations of his concerned face throughout the afternoon.
It was pretty cute.
Today was the last run on my training plan before my race on Sunday (3 days!). I did a couple of mile repeats and then felt a little lost when I finished my cool down.
There's something about the last run before a race that makes me start getting nervous. I know I've put the work in and should relax and trust my training, but I can't help but think about things I could have done differently, and things that could happen on race day.
I know I'll be fine once I'm running on Sunday, I just have to deal with my nerves until then.
Side note: my new shirt definitely shows sweat. Also, why is the left side of my chest so sweaty?
In house hunting news: The cute blue house is out. The owners accepted another offer, so we are back to looking.
My mom was supposed to get here tomorrow night, but, true to form, Kodiak Island will not let her leave (there's a reason people call it "The Rock"). The weather was too bad and her flight was cancelled. In theory, she will be here Saturday night now. Keep your fingers crossed!
Oh! The grocery store would like you to get ready for Christmas already. I just thought you should know.
It's not even Halloween yet!
I'm all for Christmas, but not until after Thanksgiving. At this rate, Christmas decorations will be in the stores before back to school stuff soon.

The less fun part of travel
I just live in airports now.
My flight out of London left late because people don't know how to be at the gate on time. Between that, and the fact that you apparently go through American customs at the Toronto airport, there was no way for me to make my connection. My flight was gone for a half hour before I even got through customs and security (again? I didn't leave a security area).
They threw away my water that I bought after security in London. And they told me about it with attitude, like I was somehow supposed to anticipate the super duper double security.
Even without my flight being late, it would have been really borderline for me to make my flight. I feel like they need to have a longer minimum amount of time between flights here. They are really, really, slow.
So now it looks like I will be getting home sometime after 7, and Buddy will have to hang out at the vet until I'm off work tomorrow.
It's been a long day, and it's technically only 2:15 here.
The Queen's Terminal
I had to get up at 3:45 this morning. It was kind of gross after all the sleeping in I've been doing.
I successfully managed the cab/train combo to get to the airport and then had to wait 45 minutes for the people to open up the bag drop. Then it was another 15 minutes while they tried to make their scanner work.
Now I'm sitting in The Queen's Terminal (which she apparently just officially opened yesterday) and drinking a latte.
Two flights (I fly home through Toronto, which was way cheaper than any direct flights) and a long drive and I will be home.
I'm hoping to make it up to the vet to pick up Buddy before they close or I will have to wait and get him after work tomorrow.
That's all the news for now, I hope you're having a good morning!
